Rizvi Springfield triumph Rizvi Springfield High School beat IES's New
English High School, Bandra by 87 runs in the final of the B. Khichadia
- Khar Gymkhana cricket tournament (under -16) at the Khar Gymkhana
on Friday. Yogesh Rajput, Sudhanshu Mishra and Arif Sanasara were the
chief contributors. In reply, IES's New English were restricted to 153
runs in the stipulated 45 overs.
Brief scores : Rizvi Springfield 240 for 7 (Yogesh Rajput 63, Sudhanshu
Mishra 51, Arif Sanasara 58, Redkar 3 for 82 ) beat IES New English,
Bandra 153 (Sanil Rane 51).

Rizvi Springfield High School took on St. Mary's High School at Parsi
Gymkhana yesterday in the Pepsi Youth Cricket Series. St. Mary's won
the toss and elected to bat, but were shot out for just 103 in 26.1
overs. Springfield scored the required runs in Just 16.5 overs.
Amit Yadav of Springfield, who took three for 18 in his seven overs,
was declared man-of -the-match.

In the very last year of the century a new name was to be inscribed
on Lord Harris Shield, symbol of supremacy in Mumbai's schools cricket.
It was of Rizvi Springfield High School, Bandra, who won the Colgate-MSSA
inter school tournament for seniors beating IES V. N. Sule Guruji High
School by 69 runs after four days of interesting cricket at the Oval
on Thursday. Chasing a target of 244, IES were all out for 174.
Rizvi, founded in 1985, have been taking part since the last six years,
getting only as far at the semifinal stage last year. The inclusion
of some up country players strengthened their ranks and brought them
the exclusive title much to the joy of their founder Akhtar Rizvi ,
M. P. , who watched the final for three hours on Wednesday. This was
their third title of the years having won the suburban Khichadia - Khar
Gymkhana and the Vinoo Mankad trophy of the state government, Rizvi,
triumph was in doubt for the first sessions as IES, chasing a target
of 244, has reached 103 for two, with the overnight players, Mumbai
under 16 stars Swapnoj Thakur and Vinit Indulkar, having added a hundreds
runs for the third wicket. Soon after resumption, Thakur was run out
in a 'yes-no' situation by a direct hit from mid-wicket by Pankaj Ojha,
ending a promising stand of 111 runs in 40.1 overs. Thakur had batted
for 163 minutes for his 53. One run later, Indulkar (50,85 mins. ) followed,
beaten and stumped by the only ball.
